OUR VISION

Karteria derives from the Greek word καρτερία - meaning endurance, resilience and strength.  For us, this translates into the ability to navigate uncertainty with discipline and intent.

We believe sustainability, real asset investment and the global economy are entering one of the most profound periods of transition in generations - shaped by accelerating AI adoption, maturing sustainability regulation, geopolitical realignment and structural capital shifts.

Organisations today need senior, proven expertise that can be mobilised rapidly and flexibly - bypassing the friction, expense, and slow timelines of more traditional models.

Karteria Partners exists to meet that need: navigating the uncertainty alongside our partners, with clarity, pace and skilled judgement.

Karteria Partners offers fractional Executive, Operating Partner, and NED-level real asset & sustainability leadership across the investment spectrum. Our focus is on driving integrated value, underpinned by resilience, governance, statutory risk management, and long-term positive impact.

Working across capital structures, we provide rapidly deployed, flexible solutions - both short- and long-term - to investors, fund managers, banks, tech companies, and startups across the real asset ecosystem, building a portfolio of trusted relationships.  Built on decades of connections, we work alongside our partners rather than operating as traditional consultants, blending technical credibility, commercial acumen and external influence to help translate complex investment, operational, and sustainability challenges into strategic business value.

With deep experience at Partner level, gained from working with & within some of the best-known names in the market, Karteria Partners is in the strongest position to offer trusted, discreet and expert advice at the highest level. We pride ourselves on being efficient, quick to respond and outcome-driven. We deploy rather than bid - joining our partners to deliver the right outcome, not to define or defend a rigid scope.  Engagements are typically mobilised within days, often with on-site support within the first week, and are structured around agreed time commitments and desired outcomes, adapting in real time as insight develops.

We are openly using dedicated AI tools (via a strong AI Governance Policy) to underpin research, analysis, visualisation and administration, driving efficiency across our affiliated entities and enabling rapid mobilisation. We believe that, with the right direction and quality assurance, AI can both accelerate delivery and materially enhance outcomes.

Fractional Operating Partner

We deploy Partners on a fractional basis to act as embedded senior leadership, tailored to the scale and maturity of the organisation.

Engagements are typically structured around time and outcomes (e.g. 1–3 days per week for a defined period), adapting as priorities evolve.

Typical use cases include:

  • New or growing investment managers not yet at the scale to justify a full-time Head of Sustainability or Operating Partner

  • Private equity or real asset platforms seeking operating partner support across portfolio companies

  • Time-bound transformation, stabilisation or capability build phases

Executive Advisor

We provide on-demand executive support, often acting as a client representative, where senior judgement, credibility or specialist experience is needed — without embedding a long-term role.

These engagements may be one-off or time-limited and are scoped for speed and discretion.

Typical use cases include:

  • Strengthening bids, proposals or mandates with senior CVs and executive review

  • Independent challenge and course-correction for stalled or complex initiatives

  • Short, focused interventions to unblock decisions or restore momentum

  • Expert technical advice for programme implementation or due diligence processes. Read more here...

Board / VC Advisor

We support boards, founders and leadership teams in an advisory (non-statutory) capacity, acting as trusted counsel rather than formal directors.

Engagements are typically ad hoc or retainer-based, providing “end-of-the-phone” support when it matters most — with flexibility for performance-linked or equity-based arrangements where appropriate.

Typical use cases include:

  • PropTech, climate-tech or data platform businesses

  • Early-stage or scaling ventures navigating product–market fit, enterprise sales or investor expectations

  • Access to senior networks, market insight and technical judgement

Non Executive Directors (NED)

Where formal governance oversight is required, we can deploy a Partner as a Non-Executive Director with full legal and fiduciary responsibilities.

Engagements are usually light-touch but high-impact (e.g. 4–6 days per year), bringing independent judgement, market credibility and Investment Committee experience.

Typical use cases include:

  • Fund, investment manager or asset platform boards

  • Specialist consultancies or operating businesses seeking executive-level sustainability and risk expertise at board level

MEIKE BORCHERS

Meike is an experienced ESG, climate-risk and real-asset specialist with more than twenty years of international experience spanning engineering, sustainability strategy and operational leadership. Her career has been defined by delivering technically rigorous, commercially grounded solutions for investors, developers and asset managers navigating increasing regulatory scrutiny, lender expectations and the accelerating financial impacts of climate risk. Beginning her career as a structural engineer in Germany, Sweden and the United States, Meike built a strong technical foundation before establishing herself in the UK with WSP. Over a decade, she became a recognised sustainability leader within the Buildings and Property division, launching new service lines such as building lifecycle analysis and overseeing sustainability strategies for major infrastructure schemes including the London Bridge Station Redevelopment and Crossrail’s Bond Street Station. She also guided complex commercial developments through certification and regulatory requirements and co-authored influential industry guidance during a period of rapid sector evolution. Her subsequent move to WSP Hamburg marked a pivotal operational leadership role. Tasked with stabilising and repositioning the local project management division, she strengthened performance, rebuilt commercial discipline, deepened collaboration across national offices and re-established the team as a trusted partner to both public and private clients. At EVORA Global, Meike played a central role during a period of accelerated growth and restructuring. She established the firm’s German entity and built a high-performing sustainability team of more than twenty specialists within two years, delivering regional revenues and credibility at pace. She was later appointed Chief Product Officer to lead the firm’s engineering and digital product function, followed by an international consulting leadership role across Europe and the United States. Her work integrated advisory, operational delivery and product innovation to support major real-asset investors through tightening regulations, climate-risk exposure and capability gaps. As a founding partner of Karteria Partners, Meike advises investors, operating platforms and affiliated sectors on ESG strategy, climate-risk governance and organisational capability. Her focus is on addressing the market-wide loss of specialist expertise while building long-term resilience at both portfolio and asset level, ensuring clients can maintain regulatory confidence, protect valuation integrity and meet emerging market demands with clarity and technical certainty. As well a her native German, Meike is fluent in English.

PHILIPPA GILL

Philippa is a senior real-asset and sustainability professional with almost twenty years of experience across global investment, operations and strategy. Her career spans Blackstone, Tishman Speyer, Verdextra and EVORA Global, where she developed and implemented integrated approaches to asset performance, regulatory compliance and long-term value creation. After cutting her teeth as an Asset Manager at Blackstone, as Co-Head of Global Sustainability at Tishman Speyer, Philippa oversaw strategy from acquisition through operations, introducing global reporting systems, embedding investment-aligned performance metrics and guiding the adoption of advanced technologies across an international portfolio. At EVORA Global, she served as Executive Director for Strategic Accounts and as a Board Member, advising some of the world’s largest real estate investors on complex regulatory, operational and climate-risk challenges. Her work directly addresses the pressures currently reshaping the real-asset sector: lender reluctance to finance underperforming assets, transaction failures linked to insurability, and the increasing financial and operational risk created by the loss of in-house ESG expertise. Philippa brings a rare combination of investment understanding, operational depth and technical insight and is focused on building systemic and integrated value drivers which in turn enable investors to navigate risks and opportunities with clarity and confidence. She currently holds non-executive positions with Rype Office and Aletheia and recently completed a white paper examining the integration of value drivers across the real-asset lifecycle. As a founding partner of Karteria Partners, Philippa provides strategic advisory support to investors, operating platforms and affiliated sectors, helping organisations address immediate capability gaps as well as building long-term resilience in a rapidly evolving regulatory and market environment. Philippa speaks French & Spanish in addition to her native English.
